To keep our staff healthy and happy we provide all our crew an annual gym membership at Proactive Gym here in Wanaka. Sue and her team help whip our team into shape, encourage us into classes and have Scott and Wayne in a series of boxing, running and highly competitive physical challenges. Sue is so inspiring we recently nominated her for a MYOB Awesome Service Awards! Good luck Sue!

Kiwisaver - take a look at the numbers...
New Zealand has 1.2 million people joined up to Kiwisaver. In comparison we own 2.5 million cars amongst 4.1 million people (of which about 80% live in cities). New Zealand is resident to 9 million beef cattle and famously 39 million sheep.
What this tells us is three things - that we have a small amount of people raising a lot of stock, we like steak but not walking and we like driving more than we like saving.
Our take on the matter is to at least give the scheme your consideration. We believe in talking to the experts to have the numbers explained. There is no doubt this may not sit at the top of your 'to do' list however if you are self employed it might pay to call in some advice before March 31st to make sure you gain this years benefits.
All in all whether you are an employee or self employed it's important to be educated. End of lecture.

We all scream for ice-cream!
After a Findlay and Co team taste test we are pleased to see our clients Richard and Tracey's Pure Ice-cream on the shelves. You have to try this ice cream! Pure has no naughties added and is loaded with pure fruit or Belgium chocolate. This ice-cream needs to be on your treats list for these hot summer days.
Smarty Pants Fee Smart Award
With more awards than you can shake a stick at, we are stoked to add to the cabinet an award for our very own Andrea Kircher. Andrea was noted for being Fee Smart's 2009 runner-up "NZ's most Effective and Sensational Accounts Receivable Person." Ace!

New Queenstown Office
We are on the move! In mid March we are packing up and moving into our new office at Terrace Junction. Bronwyn, our Xero superstar is holding down the fort and heading up our Queenstown team. Although we have been in Queenstown for a few years we are looking forward to getting to know more locals and business owners.

Xero Making Accounting Sexy
At Findlay and Co we are fans of Xero. If you haven't had a chance already you had better check out what these movers and shakers are up to.
We are proud partners of Rod Drury and his team and we blown away to be awarded the 2009 Xero Partner Innovation Award. What an honour, thanks Xero!

Hawaii
At Findlay and Co we started off the year with conference and training for our Partners Wayne and Scott and Business Manager Marg. It just so happened that Coaching Club with Rob Nixon was in Hawaii this year. Excitingly our Management team actually won their trip and conference fees with a presentation they made in a 2009 training seminar.
The days were a mixture of sun, seminars, golf, presentations, socialising and fun. The week was capped off by Marg taking home the award for "Contribution to the Coaching Club Community" and Findlay and Co being inducted into the Rob Nixon hall of fame. Nice!

It's good to be first!
Our first post is about being first. The Wright Brothers inspired Neil Armstrong. Sir Edmund Hillary's mother inspired him to climb Mount Everest, in turn Hillary Clinton's Mother was inspired by Ed to name her daughter Hillary. Nelson Mandela inspired Oprah. Oprah inspired Barack. Barack Obama was inspired by Jesus, and God knows who inspired JC. But we do know, it is good to be first.
